artist's statement

***une traduction suivra sous peu***

I have always been a simple girl that loves simple things. The dramatic waves and refreshing forests of the New Brunswick province have nourished my world so it is no surprise that I’m attracted to nature and all its forms. I have a tendency to find motifs in everything that surround me. I stop and watch the world and I see beauty in every corner. My creations come from there… the simplicity of life. They are practical, fun and accessible. My motifs are playful, simple and are a reflection of my world.

From shibori (the art of dying fabric) and silkscreening (hand printing on fabric) to knitting machine and sewing, my products are all hand made. My first choice of materials are natural fibers. I turn to nature for inspiration even if the final result has nothing to do with it. I love to put a grain de folie into my designs, to give them that unique look.

I love to work with my hands, I love the physicality of manipulating my materials. My favorite part of being a designer/artist is the materialization of my ideas. Bringing them to life is the greatest feeling of all.  It gives me energy and focus. I am presently learning and exploring new techniques to help me grow and evolve in my trade. This trip outside my comfort zone fills my head with awesome ideas that I can’t wait to try more.
